Pepeliaev Group tops The Legal 500 ratings
The international legal directory The Legal 500 has again recognised the professional pre-eminence of Pepeliaev Group among Russian legal practices.
The firm has been recognised as the best in tax law (Tier 1). The 70-strong tax team at Pepeliaev Group is led by the highly regarded Sergey Pepeliaev and includes senior partners Rustem Ahmetshin, Andrey Nikonov and Ivan Khamenushko, along with St Petersburg tax practice head Sergey Sosnovsky.
Elena Sokolovskaya heads the antimonopoly group at Pepeliaev Group (Tier 2), which includes corporate division head Vladimir Sokov, who advises international and domestic clients on antimonopoly investigations and audits. Senior associate Evgeny Mushta is recommended for his work on distribution agreements and Oksana Migitko, who heads the commercial practice, specialises in vertical and horizontal agreements.
The Legal 500 has also rated our employment and migration practice (Tier 2) highly, mentioning as key contacts newly promoted partner Julia Borozdna in Moscow and head of the St Petersburg employment practice Alexander Korkin. They handle various employment matters for international manufacturers, state bodies, and power companies.
Valentina Orlova, formerly head of the legal department at state IP regulator Rospatent, heads the IP practice (Tier 3) at Pepeliaev Group. The head of IP group Yuri Yahin is a key expert in copyright issues.
Pepeliaev Group's real estate and construction practice (Tier 3) has also become one of three leaders in the Russian legal services market. The construction company Hals Development recommended the head of corporate Vladimir Sokov, partner Alexey Konevsky and head of the real estate group Natalia Stenina for project support.
The ‘excellent’ Natalia Ivashchenko, head of TMT group at Pepeliaev Group (Tier 3), regularly advises technology and telecoms companies on complex contractual and regulatory matters.
The Legal 500 recommends the banking and finance practice (Tier 4), headed by the partner at Pepeliaev Group Igor Marmalidi, who was previously head of Citibank’s legal department.
The experts in Pepeliaev Group's litigation practice (Tier 4) have ‘deep and broad business acumen and industry knowledge’. The Legal 500 recommends partner Yuri Vorobyev and head of bankruptcy and the anti-crisis protection of business practice Yulia Litovtseva. Roman Bevzenko, previously head of the private law department at the Russian Supreme Commercial Court, has joined the team recently.
The international rating also distinguishes the Pepeliaev Group's expertise in supporting key energy and natural resources companies (Tier 5), with Pavel Kondukov, head of the offshore projects and PSA group, being referred to as a main expert.
The Legal 500 has praised St Petersburg corporate practice of Pepeliaev Group (Tier 2), where office managing partner Sergey Spasennov is the key contact.
