What he specialises in

Anton has been specialising in tax law for 25 years. He provides legal support to companies from the financial sector (banks, investment companies, insurance and leasing companies, private pension funds), as well as from the energy, production, metallurgical and other sectors of economy.

His significant experience as a litigator allows Anton to provide practical advice when consulting on complex taxation issues, and, when he provides tax support in transactions, to identify tax risks and overpayments.

Moreover, Anton has vast experience of being involved in providing support during tax audits (assisting in writing responses to requests from an inspectorate, representing clients during interrogations, and so on), as well as during pre-audit activities and when challenging the results of audits at the pre-trial stage.

His main achievements

Anton’s major projects include, among others:

• created the first successful precedent on recovering court costs from a tax authority in the Russian Supreme Commercial Court;

• successfully challenged claims of a tax authority regarding the reclassification of a personal insurance agreement in the banking and insurance sector;

• providing support in litigation projects, including before courts of the highest levels (in particular, with regard to the claims over an unjustified tax benefit, in relation to applying market prices, ‘insufficient’ capitalisation rules, the concept of the ‘actual recipient (‘beneficial owner’) of income’, provisions of international double taxation treaties, applying tax benefits, refunds of VAT, and so on).

Anton gives lectures on tax law in educational institutions (Lomonosov Moscow State University, M-Logos Legal Institute and others), gives comments to the media regarding significant issues of tax legislation (Economics and Life, Vedomosti, Kommersant, Dvoinaya Zapis, Glavbukh, Russian Tax Courier, Nalogoved, etc.). He heads a working group in the Association of European Businesses, while he is used as an expert by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and the United Leasing Association. He is also invited as a speaker to many conferences.

Anton has been marked out by the Pravo-300 directory in band 1 of its recommended lawyers for tax advice and tax disputes.
