Natalya Prisekina, a partner at and head of the Far East Office of Pepeliaev Group, and Ekaterina Samusenko, attorney, have become co-authors of a chapter in a book 'Force Majeure and Hardship in the Asia-Pacific Region' by globally renowned publisher JURIS Legal Information.

JURIS Legal Information is a full-service legal publisher specialising in international and American law and producing integrated reference works written by eminent practitioners.

Authors from 16 major jurisdictions of the Asia-Pacific Region were invited to participate in this project. The book 'Force Majeure and Hardship in the Asia-Pacific Region' addresses this relevant topic as it is understood among the most important economies in the Asia-Pacific region. It provides an overview of how such events are understood in each country, what the legal consequences for the contracting parties are, what the notice requirements are and what remedies may be available. A detailed guidance note also outlines the critical steps to take should a force majeure or hardship event occur.

In the chapter about Russia the authors highlight a broad range of topical legal matters connected with how the concepts of “force majeure” and “circumstances of insuperable force” are used in Russian legislation as well as the emerging judicial practice on force majeure and hardship in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, taking advantage of this opportunity to demonstrate their expertise on an international level.

On 24 January 2022 (3 pm Moscow time or 10 pm Vladivostok time) JURIS Legal Information and the New York International Arbitration Center will stage a worldwide virtual presentation of this book.
