What she specialises in

For over 15 years, Polina has been specialising in providing foreign companies that are entering the Russian market with full-fledged legal support during production or sale of products, and in implementing large multinational projects when companies enter foreign markets, as well as for Internet services and online stores.

She has in-depth knowledge of a wide range of issues relating to commercial law, the manufacturing and sale of goods, digital law, and as head of the legal department in a group of companies. She advises heads of legal departments and business owners, and acts as an expert for legal teams. Since 2020, she has been a recommended lawyer in the Pravo-300 directory (Group 1). Since 2022, she has also been a Co-chair of the Innovation & Technology Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia.

She regularly holds workshops for clients, participates in conferences as a speaker and as a moderator, publishes articles and legal overviews, and is engaged in pro bono activities.


Polina provides legal support to major global companies with regard to various areas, including: 

  • Legislation on the protection of consumers’ rights

  • Rules for selling goods, for the supply of services (including food products, clothes, goods for children, jewellery, alcohol, tobacco, products for military purposes, etc.), and for the distance selling of goods.

  • Information about goods/services, labels, labelling, packaging, and the composition of food products.

  • Licensing, certification, Technical Regulations, national standards (known by the Russian abbreviation ‘GOST’), mandatory requirements for goods/services, the quality/safety of goods/services (including safety of food products, consumer goods, goods for children, licensing of medical practices, retail trade in alcohol products, etc.)

  • Liability for infringing consumers’ rights, misleading consumers and violating their rights.

  • Consumers' claims, lawsuits concerning protecting consumers' rights, liaising with the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Federal Service for Supervision over Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare (abbreviated in Russian to “Rospotrebnadzor”).

  • Compensation of harm caused to the health of consumers owing to defects in a product/service or compensation of moral harm.


Information law

  • Full-fledged legal support in relation to activities of Internet services and online stores.

  • Legal expert reviews of whether information products/content comply with the requirements of legislation on information, on protecting children from information and the classification of information products.

  • Advising on the full range of data processing issues;

  • Advising subjects of critical information infrastructure (CII subjects), organisers of the dissemination of information and backbone enterprises on regulatory compliance requirements in the sphere of information security; interaction with the Federal Security Service and the Federal Service for Technical and Export Control.


Advertising

  • Advertising and the promotion of certain categories of goods (including alcohol, tobacco and goods for military purposes).

  • Native advertising, product placement and subliminal advertising.

  • Promotional events, rules for holding advertising campaigns, lotteries, competitions and loyalty programmes.

  • Advertising mailouts and consents to receive advertisements.

  • Liability for violating the law on advertising, inappropriate advertising, and liaising with the Federal Antimonopoly Service.

 

General legal support of companies

Her main achievements:

  • Provided support for the launch of the biggest online cinema in Russia in 12 new jurisdictions.

  • Provided legal support to a global leading clothing retailer when it started to sell gold and silver jewellery.

  • Provided legal support for the activities of a publishing house, conducted legal expert reviews of whether information products/content complied with the requirements of legislation on information, on protecting children from information and on advertising.

  • Provided legal support for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

  • Advised a major car maker within the scope of a global reorganisation of its group, which comprised over 30 subsidiaries including foreign distributors in France, Czech Republic, Latvia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
