24.04.2013
Law firm Pepeliaev Group will participate in the III St Petersburg International Legal Forum that will take place in St Petersburg from 15 until 18 May 2013.

The Forum is considered to be a major international platform for dialogue among legal professionals. Representatives of virtually all legal fields and legal systems traditionally participate in discussions dedicated to a wide range of topical issues in law and business. This year, almost 2,500 people from more than 50 countries all over the world plan to take part in the Forum. Among them will be more than 20 official delegations that represent the justice ministries of CIS, European, Asian and American countries.

Pepeliaev Group and the journal ‘Competition and Law’, in the context of the III St Petersburg Legal Forum, invite guests to participate in a business lunch on 16 May 2013 on topic ‘Antitrust regulation: the challenges of modern times’.

Competition policy and the proper antitrust regulation are fundamental conditions for Russia to form a modern market economy. Many will appreciate that in Russia a legal and regulatory framework has been created that meets modern realities, but did it improve the competitive environment in our country? What do errors in antitrust regulation cost? Whose interests should be protected as a matter of priority? Representatives of government, companies’ senior executives, and leading lawyers will talk over these and many other questions during the discussion.

Topics for discussion

  • Searching for protection. About competitors, competition and consumers in terms of the objectives of antitrust policy: whose interests is it a priority to protect?
  • Greed is not a crime, if it is a stimulus for growth. The cost of errors in antitrust regulation. Monopolism and what it means for competition.
  • Trust, but check the economics side of the issue. Whether decisions of the antitrust authority need to be fully checked by the courts, and what means there are to implement this effectively

Invited to the discussion are:

Igor Artemev – Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service;
Sergey Pepeliaev – Managing Partner, Pepeliaev Group;
Sergey Puzyrevsky – Head of Legal Division, Federal Antimonopoly Service;
Vladimir Sokov – Senior Partner, Pepeliaev Group;
