Anton Pchelkin, an Associate in the Intellectual Property and Trademarks Practice of Pepeliaev Group, spoke at the session “The legal aspect of creative business: digital protection of intellectual property”, which was held within the framework of IPQuorum-2021.
In the discussion, the experts in attendance debated the following issues: what high-tech services are able to protect IP; what liability is stipulated for infringers of intellectual rights; how to fight efficiently with infringers and to win in a competitive race.
In his speech, Anton touched on aspects of copyright that emerge when cases relating to the protection of copyright are considered, such as free use, parallel creativity and the creative nature of a work. It is based on these institutions that defence positions are often constructed in similar cases. This is particularly topical when protecting rights in the media.
IPQuorum-2021 was held on 26-27 April in Skolkovo. The organisers of the event were the Russian Ministry of Culture, Skolkovo Foundation, and IPChain Association.
