Pepeliaev Group is an expert of Tax Policy Group of the Russian Government

Vadim Zaripov, Head of Analytical Department of Pepeliaev Group has become member of the Russian Government’s Tax Policy expert group. Expert groups are formed by the Russian Government in various areas and aim to revise Russia’s social and economic development strategy for the period up to 2020.

During the first meeting of the expert group for tax policy issues held in February in the World Trade Center, participants discussed the principal approaches and directions of their work. Vadim Zaripov drew the experts’ attention to the troubling trends in the development of the Russian tax system at the turn of the decade. He pointed out that the experts planning changes in the tax system should take due account of the “tax administration coefficient”, as it may raise the nominal tax rates and affect the country’s investment climate. Vadim suggested a number of measures aimed at improving the position of taxpayers, and this provoked a lively discussion among the experts.

Further to the discussion, the expert group will draft its conclusions on various legislative issues that will be used by the Russian Government when developing its strategy for 2020.
