Pepeliaev Group – leader of Russian legal business

The portal Pravo.Ru has hailed Pepeliaev Group as a leader among Russian law firms. The ‘Pravo.Ru-300’ rating of law firms is the first comprehensive study which takes account not only of financial (revenues and profit) and statistical (number of employees, number of lawyers, structure of the firm’s departments) indicators, but also major projects undertaken by the firm (for more detail, please see http://pravo.ru/stat/rating300/). Moreover, client recommendations and feedback were also taken into account in putting the ratings together. The newspaper Vedomosti was a partner in the project, while the results were audited by Ernst & Young.

The ‘Pravo.Ru-300’ has been created to establish which are the leading firms in the legal sector and specialised departments that are successful and highly rated on the Russian legal services market. Joining Pepeliaev Group in the top five were Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev and Partners, DLA Piper, Salans and Baker & McKenzie.

This is not the first time that Pepeliaev Group has been recognised as one of Russia’s leading law firms. The Expert RA ratings for 2003 to 2009 placed Pepeliaev Group every year as a leader among Russian law firms and consultants. In tax consulting between 2003 and 2009, Pepeliaev Group was among the three leaders in the Expert RA ratings. In 2009, the Expert RA ratings named Pepeliaev Group as one of the leaders in legal advice and tax consultancy for 17 different industry sectors.

The leading independent international law firm directories Chambers and The Legal 500 have recognised Pepeliaev Group as an undisputed leader in the area of tax law services in Russia. The leading international law firm directory Chambers Europe expresses exactly this view and also hails Sergey Pepeliaev as a Band Star (absolute leader).

Chambers and The Legal 500 also recommend Pepeliaev Group as a reliable legal partner for business in Russia in the following branches of law: antimonopoly regulation; dispute resolution; general legal issues; intellectual property; corporate law and M&A; real estate; and employment law.

The firm’s lawyers are rated as the top practitioners in transfer pricing according to a vote for The World Finance Awards 2010, founded by the World Finance journal. Pepeliaev Group also became the first Russian firm to be recognised by international experts by the World Tax awards.
