On 28 September 2010, Goltsblat BLP dropped its claim in the Moscow City Arbitration Court for the transfer of the domain.
The case was dropped because Goltsblat BLP had already acquired the above domain from its owner, Pepeliaev Group, for RUB 10,000 on 21 September 2010. Since the domain has no commercial value, the seller asked only for the level of the costs it had incurred in registering and administering the domain. The domain name goltsblat.ru was one of many names registered by the firm Pepeliaev, Goltsblat and Partners more than five years ago. Pepeliaev Group, the owner of the name, suggested to Andrey Goltsblat when he moved to the English firm BLP in 2009 that he buy the right to the domain in an individual capacity. However, he refused and then, using the English firm’s resources, made a claim to recover the domain on 6 July 2010 in the Moscow City Arbitration Court.
“The sale of a domain happens all the time in the business world, so it is surprising that Mr. Golsblat’s representatives did not approach us directly,” commented Denis Bykov, a Partner in Pepeliaev Group’s Dispute Resolution and Mediation Practice. According to Denis, within his practice, it is becoming increasingly popular to settle disputes before they come to court. Also gaining ground is the use of mediation to reconcile parties and resolve conflicts.
