Pepeliaev Group Wins 2011 Real Estate Market Records Award

Pepeliaev Group’s land, real estate and construction practice has received this year’s Real Estate Market Records Award, earning recognition as the best real estate team in 2011. Alexey Konevsky, head of the practice, was named among the Top Practitioners in the field.

 The Real Estate Market Records award is granted annually for excellence in domestic and foreign real estate. The award is sponsored by the Moscow Business Club. More than 130,000 major players in the property market voted for best companies in a number of categories in 2011. The winners were selected by a panel of chief executives of largest companies based on the voting results and a client survey.

In 2010-2011, Pepeliaev Group’s land, real estate and construction practice successfully handled instructions fr om a number of clients:

• Undertook legal due diligence of 139 plots of agricultural land, which were to be included in a close-end real estate mutual fund.

• Drafted a memorandum on the risks arising from the privatisation of land plots located in an area that might potentially be affected by the construction of the Moscow Region Central Ring Road.

• Provided legal support in various projects that involved large-scale investments in land and property, raising finance and building shopping and office centres in various Russian regions, building a sawmill and a pulp and paper mill, making preparations and building transport and logistics centres in St Petersburg, Moscow Region and Leningrad Region, selling a hotel chain, setting up the manufacturing of automotive components; assisted in a brownfield project that involved the redevelopment of an oil-loading terminal and construction of new facilities on the site, etc.

• Worked on the Electrical Power Panel under the Federal Antimonopoly Service, which included contributing to drafting the rules wh ereby retail electrical power markets would be regulated during a transitional period until the reform of the electrical power industry was completed.

• Provided legal support in the sale, acquisition and leasing/renting of land and real estate, etc.
