Sergey Pepeliaev, Managing Partner of Pepeliaev Group, took part in an extended meeting of the Coordination Council of 'Business Russia', the association of entrepreneurs, which was held on 27 March 2025. The Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Alexander Novak, also participated in the event.
During the meeting, the participants in the discussion highlighted specific topics that the Government needs to make a priority by devoting special attention to them. In particular, the issue was discussed of how incentive tax tools are extremely limited and are insignificant in practical terms, while the parameters of investment deductions should be extended. To eliminate the distorting effect on employment relationships, approaches should be altered to taxing the self-employed in their business dealings with legal entities.
In addition, the issue was raised of the need to improve the legal regulation of land relationships. Currently, land relationships fall under the jurisdiction of various governmental departments, when, as the saying goes, too many cooks spoil the broth. The business community, specifically law firms, should be more closely involved in the activities of the governmental committee that oversees improvements in land legislation.
“'Business Russia' puts considerable effort into improving the business climate in the country”, said Sergey Pepeliaev. As a law firm, Pepeliaev Group is pleased to be part of the process by being involved in a number of projects to improve legislation as well as administrative and judicial practice, to assist its clients in tackling their business tasks”.
