Summer Meetings with Pepeliaev Group lawyers (August 2013)

Law firm Pepeliaev Group and newspaper The Moscow Times, between 8 and 16 August 2013, will hold a series of summer meetings with leading lawyers from Pepeliaev Group. Practitioners with experience over many years will advise business people on the most topical aspects of doing business in Russia.

Topics of the summer meetings: 

1. ‘What is new in the practice of taxing international companies’ - 8 August 2013 
Sergey Pepeliaev, managing partner of Pepeliaev Group, Rustem Ahmetshin, a senior partner in the firm, and Sergey Savseris, a partner in the firm, will talk about the taxation of companies with foreign members, the latest news regarding thin capitalisation rules, new risks and opportunities for beneficial owners, international treaties being re-examined, and apportioning a head company’s expenses.

2. ‘Transfer pricing’ - 15 August 2013 
Valentina Akimova, a partner in Pepeliaev Group, Ksenia Litvinova and Irina Shtukmaster, senior associates in the firm, and Gennady Timonichev, an associate in the firm, will reveal practical aspects of drafting documentation for controlled transactions, and will discuss tax control and the necessary composition of supporting documents. They will help to draft notifications regarding controlled transactions, and will advise on sources of information and the specifics of using them, including criteria for assessing the quality of the source itself and of the information. 

3. ‘Intellectual property: practical aspects to assist business’  – 16 August 2013 
Valentina Orlova, head of Pepeliaev Group’s intellectual property and trade mark practice, and senior associate in the firm Yuri Yahin, will talk about how intellectual law governs matters relating to commercial confidentiality, will help attendees to understand the types and content of the documents necessary for relationships to be properly regulated in a commercial confidentiality regime, and will explain which results of intellectual activity belong to an employer. The specialists will give advice on matters regarding how intellectual property created in the course of employment should be documented and compensated, as well as revealing the latest legislative and case law trends the area of intellectual property. In particular, they will shed light on the actions of the court for intellectual property rights, and will comment on the most recent initiatives of the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service.
