Olga Evseeva, an Associate in Pepeliaev Group’s Customs Law and Foreign Trade Regulation Practice, has joined an advisory working group at the Central Energy Customs of the Russian Federal Customs Service. The group’s task is to work with persons involved in foreign trade.
The Working Group was created for the Central Energy Customs to cooperate and communicate with persons involved in foreign trade and other persons whose activities are connected with moving goods and vehicles across the customs border of the Eurasian Economic Union (“EEU”), and with associations of such persons. Such cooperation is aimed at implementing efficient forms of, and methods for, completing customs operations, enhancing the operational efficiency of customs control and creating the most advantageous conditions to attract investment.
The primary tasks of the working group are as follows: devising proposals as to how the procedure for completing customs operations and exercising customs control might be improved (taking into account the interests of the business community), and filing these proposals with the Russian Federal Customs Service; enhancing legal awareness in the area of customs in the territory serviced by the customs office; and contributing to efforts targeted at ensuring that all the subordinate customs stations implement EEU customs law and Russian customs legislation in a uniform manner.
Also forming part of the working group are representatives of the logistics and customs departments of OJSC Rosneft Oil Company, Gazprom Export LLC, PJSC Transneft, Kordiant OJSC, Daers-Finance LLC and other major Russian companies, as well as representatives of the Russian Federal Tax Service and the Central Energy Customs at the Federal Customs Service.
