Natalia Prisekina, a Partner at Pepeliaev Group and Head of the firm’s Far Eastern Office, took part in the High-Level Symposium on the International Maritime Silk Road Economy and Trade Arbitration. The event, organised by the China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC), was held on 8 September in the city of’ Xiamen in China’s Fujian Province.
The Symposium was dedicated to the theme “Strengthening Legal Cooperation among the BRICS Countries and Promoting the Common Development of the Global Economy” and serves as an international platform for legal experts from the BRICS jurisdictions to discuss current legal issues and dispute resolution. In addition, they carry out the necessary joint work aimed at meeting the needs of business in the region.
At the Symposium, Natalia Prisekina made a speech about how arbitration is developing in Russia.
As part of her visit, she held meetings with the leadership of the CMAC Maritime Silk Road Arbitration Centre and the Xiamen Arbitration Commission. During these, the parties discussed the current state of arbitration in Russia and China, the powers and principles governing arbitrators, the use of AI in arbitration, and the work of the CMAC Maritime Silk Road Arbitration Centre, the Xiamen Arbitration Commission, the International Commercial Arbitration Court and the Maritime Arbitration Commission at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, as well as its Vladivostok branch.
