Valentina Orlova, Head of IP and Trademark Practice at Pepeliaev Group, took part in a briefing from Grigory Ivliev, Head of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (known in Russian by the abbreviation Rospatent), which was organised by the Association of European Businesses on 10 February 2017. 

The main topic of the event was the current activity of Rospatent, as well as its plans and the prospects for 2017. Grigory Ivliev updated those present on the results of the Service's work in 2016 and gave some statistics: the number of applications for trade marks has increased by 16% during this period. In addition, the head of Rospatent stated that it was necessary to develop state policy in intellectual property management.

Also taking part in the briefing were: Olga Alekseeva, Deputy Director of the Federal Institute for Industrial Property; Dmitry Travnikov, Head of the Department for the Provision of State Services, Rospatent; Olga Komarova, Head of the Sector of Analysis of Legal Protection of Means of Identification; Frank Schtauf, General Director of the Association of European Businesses; Anton Bankovsky, Chairman of the Committee for Intellectual Property at the Association of European Businesses; as well as more that 50 representatives of the business community from such companies as Philips, Procter & Gamble, Nestle, Mercedes-Benz, etc.
