Tax risks of a freight contract

Drafted a legal opinion regarding the tax risks a shipping company may face in connection with a freight contract (bareboat charter) being concluded with respect to a sea vessel imported by another Russian company on a temporary basis without the permission of a customs authority. With the legal position our lawyers have developed that was supported by the official explanations of the Russian Federal Customs Service further to our request, the Company managed to win a dispute in which it sought to have declared illegal the requirements of the customs office to pay additionally accrued customs payments.
