Chambers Global again names Pepeliaev Group as top law firm for tax litigation
The international Chambers Global 2015 rankings have again hailed the Tax Practice of Pepeliaev Group and its Managing Partner Sergey Pepeliaev the best in Russia in tax litigation (band 1 and Star Individuals). Mr Pepeliaev is described by sources as a "guru of tax litigation". He enjoys a stellar reputation for his unrivalled expertise in Russian tax law, and continues to actively participate in contentious tax cases.
Rustem Ahmetshin (band 2), Senior Partner at Pepeliaev Group, is recommended by its clients as a “well-known local expert with strong experience on the Russian market who always delivers what we need”. The tax practice of Valentina Akimova (band 3) handles transfer pricing and VAT issues. Senior Partner Andrey Nikonov (band 3) advises key clients in the oil and gas sector, with sources describing him as a “strong lawyer”. St Petersburg practice head Sergey Sosnovsky (band 3) is one of the leading tax experts in north-west Russia.
Chambers Global awards a high rating to the IP Practice of Pepeliaev Group (band 3). Chambers notes that practice head Valentina Orlova (band 2) is a recognised academic authority in this area, frequently assisting with the drafting of IP legislation.
The Chambers ranking also distinguishes the accomplishments of Pepeliaev Group’s Corporate Practice (band 4). According to clients, the practice head and senior partner Vladimir Sokov (band 3) is very knowledgeable in corporate law and has significant experience of the life sciences sector.
