Nine of Pepeliaev Group’s practice and sector groups have entered Pravo.ru’s Tier 1
Nine of Pepeliaev Group’s practice and sector groups have entered Tier 1 of the Pravo.ru rating. This is the first time that we have been included in Tier 1 of the Compliance (Tier 1) and Environmental Law (Tier 1) categories. In the Digital Economy section, in which we also feature for the first time, Pepeliaev Group has been placed in Tier 2.

The Head of Pepeliaev Group’s Analytical Department Vadim Zaripov and Expert Sergey Taut took part in a session of the Expert Board under the Entrepreneurs' Rights Commissioner appointed by the President of the Russian Federation. The session was dedicated to issues of administrative prejudice.

Legal and tax support of a large gold-mining company
Lawyers and auditors of Pepeliaev Group provided legal and tax support to the client, the large Dutch company Cupol Ventures Limited, which is a part of Kinross Gold (a Canadian gold-mining company), in a project involving the acquisition of Chulbatkan gold deposit. The project involved tax due diligence of the target company and advice on tax aspects of the transaction.

Pepeliaev Group has been recognised as Law Firm of the Year for Tax Law in Russia according to the major legal peer review publication Best Lawyers™ 2020*. In addition, Sergey Sosnovsky, Partner, and Head of the Tax Practice in the St Petersburg Office, has been named Lawyer of the Year for Tax Law in St Petersburg. This year, 22 lawyers of Pepeliaev Group have been ranked by the publication for the first time, one of whom has debuted in three categories at the same time while another has made it in two categories. Therefore, approximately one quarter of all Pepeliaev Group’s lawyers (36 out of 160) are on the list of Best Lawyers™.

Several of Pepeliaev Group’s practice areas at once have demonstrated progress in the international legal rating The Legal 500. The Bankruptcy and Anti-Crisis Protection of Business Practice of Pepeliaev Group has been hailed by the rating for the first time, making it straight into Tier 3. The lawyers from this practice area support creditors through the process of recovering debts from subsidiaries and contractors, as well as representing clients in bankruptcy disputes and in managing insolvency risks. Moreover, the practice area headed by Yulia Litovtseva, Partner, has substantial expertise in the area of secondary liability.
